Your brand has a new audience

A little while ago, we wrote about how to make your business visible to AI agents in 2026. The idea was simple: as more people use AI to search, compare and shortlist, brands need to make sure those systems can understand what they actually do.

But visibility is only part of the story. What happens when a brand has to communicate with both people and machines?

Someone may ask ChatGPT, Gemini or another AI-search tool to compare companies or recommend a solution before they ever visit your website. That means the first version of your brand story may increasingly come from a machine.

Two audiences

People respond to tone, design, personality, emotion and reputation. We are also quite good at filling in the gaps. AI systems work differently. They rely more on clear signals about what a company does, what it offers, who it is for and how its products or services are described.

So a brand can look great to a person and still be difficult for AI to read accurately. That does not mean brands should become boring or overly technical. They still need to be distinctive and memorable. They just need to be clear as well.

Beyond your website

Your website still matters, but it is only one source. Search results, reviews, directories, social profiles, product pages and third-party mentions can all influence how your business is represented.

That makes consistency more important. The language you use, the way you describe your offer and the proof you provide should hold together wherever the brand appears.

A brand still needs personality. But increasingly, it also needs to survive another layer of interpretation.

The question

So perhaps the question is no longer only:

Does our audience understand what we do?

It is also:

Would an AI understand it well enough to explain it properly?

That does not mean marketing to robots. It means making sure your brand still makes sense when someone else, or something else, is doing the explaining.

If you are curious how clearly your brand is coming across to AI, ask us. It is an interesting place to start.
