The Challenge

Kåkes needed an identity as distinctive as the things coming out of its oven.

We started with the story. A bakery and bistro built around friendship, good food and a sourdough starter called Kåkes. A place meant to feel local, generous and full of character.

Then there was the setting: a Stockholm neighbourhood shaped by funkis, the Swedish modernism of the 1930s.

Our job was to bring all of that together into an identity that felt warm, playful and rooted in the place, without becoming nostalgic or predictable.

Kåkes hasn’t opened its doors yet, but it already feels like part of the neighbourhood. And people are talking.

From bubbles to symbol

A symbol that shapes the space.

A playful logo system, grounded by typography inspired by 1930s funkis / Art Deco.

Made to be seen from the street.

From one bubble to many.
A simple shape that keeps the identity moving.

This is only the first batch.
The rest stays wrapped until opening in October.
